Yea…that Damon. Apparently he thought he was making everyone feel special, I had to tell him that it was actually a rather mean thing to do…it turns out he had liked me the whole time though. When I yelled at him about the dance thing he kissed me and told me it had always been only me so yeah Awkward Little Half-mermaid Princess got herself a boyfriend! And as far as Shelby goes, I am pretty sure there is no going back this time. 

I’m happy for you! And oh, that’s what they all say. She’ll come around, don’t worry. Remember, I’m never wrong.

Oh Ember! We really should hang out more! Damon is officially my boyfriend now, that’s why he was my date to the ball…and I think why Margret is mad…and I am positive Shelby hates me…ask her yourself if you don’t believe me!

Oh. Wait a second. I know the Damon we’re talking about. This is the Damon that asked every one to the dance. Right? I don’t think Margret should be mad at you then! That seems really unfair… and as far as Shelby goes, best friends always fight then threaten to never speak to each other again. Give it time, you’ll see!

It started out fine…but I saw Damon getting yelled at by Margret and I think she might hate me so I left early…and Shelby basically hates me too so I just couldn’t deal with being around her too…I ducked out and went to the pool alone. 

1. Is Damon that boy you were supposed to go to the dance with? 2. I’m sure she doesn’t hate you. 3. I’m positive Shelby doesn’t hate you. You two have had fights before. I’m sure everything will work out!

Ember walked down the grand staircase. She had to mentally tell herself not to let her jaw hang open as she took in the beauty of the grand ballroom. All week, she’d been trying to imagine how amazing this day would be. It was better than she could have dreamed. She reached the end of the staircase and looked around, trying to decide what to do first. Find some friends? Find some food? Slide into the dance floor? The choices were endless. And the best part? With the mask covering her identity, no one had to know who she was. As far as everyone knew, the granddaughter of Triton was nowhere to be found. She could be whoever she wanted to be.

Melody appreciated Ember trying to make her feel better, “Thanks Ember…even if you’re wrong.” She stuck her tongue out teasing her cousin. “Damon is not royalty and isn’t used to formal stuff like you and I are…he’s going to think I look ridiculous…I should go back to my room and change…”

“I am never wrong, dear cousin. Get that ridiculous thought out of your mind,” Ember gasped, pretending to be offended. “No! You look wonderful! And Damon will think the same. I promise. Trust me. After all— I am never wrong.”

Melody glanced up at Ember, “I don’t know about you, but this mermaid can’t dance…at all…” she gestured down at the fluffy skirt of her dress, “…and Damon has never seen me all dressed up like this…I don’t look like me…”

Ember laughed. “Neither can I! But that’s okay. Most people can’t dance anyways at these things. You just have to laugh at yourself and have fun,” Ember smiled. “OH, don’t worry about that. Of course you look like you. And you look beautiful,” she said, trying to help settle Melody’s nerves.

Ember looked back at Melody. “Nervous? What for? You’re royalty, for Disney’s sake. There’s nothing to be nervous about!” Ember laughed.
